Chat provides an opportunity for in-person or virtual attendees to interact, collaborate, comment, and share in several key spaces! Enhance session and live stream engagement by adding chat to Agenda sessions or the Live Stream feature. Boost sponsor and exhibitor engagement and improve lead generation and return on investment (ROI). Let's explore how it works. 🔍
Activate chat
Activating chat for an Agenda session, Live Stream feature, or speaker, sponsor, or exhibitor profile is simple!
💡 Keep in mind, the Attendee Engagement section is available for speaker, sponsor, and exhibitor profiles only when 'Grid View' is selected in that feature's settings. To learn more about Grid View and editing feature settings, refer to our Sponsors and Exhibitors feature guide.
Edit the feature or item, expand the Attendee Engagement section, set the 'Enable Chat' toggle to Yes and click Save Changes. Yeah, it's really that easy.
Chat in practice
In the Event App's web version, the Chat tab appears to the right of the main content in a feature item such as an Agenda session or speaker profile. In the Mobile App, users simply tap the Chat option as shown in the animated GIF above.
If you're using Webex Events Production Studio or Production Studio by Restream, show attendee chats in the live stream for a wonderfully interactive experience!

Sometimes discussions can get tense, and people forget to be kind. 😦 If you need to block someone, simply follow the instructions in our moderation article.
Download and use the Chat Report
Download the chat logs to review content ideas, follow up with attendees, and generate leads at any time. Simply edit the feature or item, expand the Attendee Engagement section, and click the Download Chat Report link next to the 'Enable Chat' toggle.
After a few moments, a success message appears in the top right corner of the screen. Click the Click here to download link in the message to download the .xlsx file.
If you missed the notification, simply click the bell icon in the top right corner of the screen to find the notification.
The export file contains the following information for each chat message:
Name
Date
Time
First Name
Last Name
Email
Title
Company
Chat Text
External ID
