Webex Devices don't include a traditional browser, so the usual methods of joining the Web App or a Webex Events Production Studio won't work on a Webex Board, Desk Pro, or Desk Mini. The good news? There's a workaround! Simply use the Webex Control Hub or UI Extensions Editor to add the Webex Events Web App and Studio links as web apps, then launch them from your Webex Device.
The steps described in this article are a workaround, and some features may not behave as expected.
💡 Keep in mind, this article assumes you've already created a Live Stream feature or Session. If you need more information, refer to our Live Stream feature guide or Sessions guide for instructions on setting up these features.
Copy the links
Using a Mac or PC, log in to https://platform.socio.events/ and navigate to your Event.
Copy the Webex Events Web App link
In your Event navigation bar under 'Event App', click Web App. On the Web App page, make sure the Web App is enabled, then click the Copy button next to the shareable link. It's that easy!
Now that you've copied the URL, it's time to create your new Webex web app.
Copy the Webex Events Production Studio speaker link
⚠️ Caution! Because the Webex Events Production Studio isn't optimized for Webex Devices, we strongly recommend testing the Studio experience on your Webex Device before the live stream. We don't recommend using the 'Launch Studio' link.
Follow the instructions in our Getting Started with Webex Events Production Studio article to copy the 'Invite Speakers' link.
Now that you've copied the URL, it's time to create your new Webex web app.
Create the Webex web app
Follow the instructions to add your Webex web app on either the Control Hub or UI Extensions Editor tabs. If local web app management is enabled, refer to the instructions on adding web apps directly from the device's settings menu.
Join the Webex Events Web App or Studio
After you add the Webex web app to your home screen, joining the Web App or Studio is as simple as tapping the app and logging in.
💡 Keep in mind, if you're joining the Web App or Studio from a secured network, ask your IT administrator to add exceptions for the appropriate links so you can use the Web App and Studio. Refer to our allowlist article for a complete list of allowlist URLs.
