About Yammer

Yammer is a social-networking platform designed for communication and collaboration within organizations. Yammer is part of the Microsoft 365 enterprise suite.

If your organization uses Yammer for internal communication and you want to embed it in your Event App, you can! Attendees can log in to their Yammer account and communicate without leaving the Event App.

Yammer Resources

Yammer's help center is the best resource for all your questions when setting up a Yammer space. The Yammer Support Options page is a great starting point for beginners. It includes links to basic articles and details on how to get support.

Create your Embed Link

First, copy this URL and paste it into a text editor:

https://web.yammer.com/embed/groups/

Now, log in to your Yammer account and go to the Feed you want to embed in your Webex Event App. In your browser's address bar, copy the unique identifier from within the URL. The unique identifier is usually a set of letters and numbers. In the following example, it comes after /groups/.

https://web.yammer.com/main/org/orgname.com/groups/eyJfdHlwZSI6Ikdyb3VwIiwiaWQiOiIwIn0/all

Paste the unique identifier at the end of the URL you copied in the first step. In our example, the resulting URL is:

https://web.yammer.com/embed/groups/eyJfdHlwZSI6Ikdyb3VwIiwiaWQiOiIwIn0

Modify the link

Add header, footer, and theme customizations to the URL if necessary. Simply add a question mark at the very end, then add the parameters. Separate multiple parameters with an ampersand (&). For an explanation of each parameter, refer to Yammer's article.

  • header=true/false

  • footer=true/false

  • theme=dark/light

If you add every parameter, your URL will be like this:

https://web.yammer.com/embed/groups/eyJfdHlwZSI6Ikdyb3VwIiwiaWQiOiIwIn0?header=false&footer=false&theme=dark

Copy the URL when you're done customizing it. Now you're ready to embed the Feed in your Event App.

Embed Yammer in Webex Events

Add a Yammer feature

Use the Web Link feature if you want a dedicated tab in your Event App where folks can interact with the feed.

Simply add the feature to your Event App, edit it, and enter the URL that you copied in the previous step. Make sure you uncheck the 'Open link in external browser' box so the Yammer Feed will embed in your Event App's web version. You don't need to use the 'Pass Data to URL' checkbox. Click Save Changes.
