If you're reading this article, you signed up for an event that's hosted on the Webex Events platform, and the event organizer has asked you to add the event to your ad blocker's allowlist or use a standard browser session. This article shows you why these steps are necessary and how do them. 👍

Why do I need to allow the event through my ad blocker/use a standard browser session?

Simply put, it enables you to receive credit for actions you complete in the event (like Continuing Education credits). It also helps the event organizer improve their event and tell speakers how many people attended their sessions, asked questions, and answered polls.

If you have questions about why you're being asked to do this, please reach out to the event organizer.

How do I allow the event through my ad blocker?

The steps for adding the event to your ad blocker's allowlist will vary depending on which blocker you use. We recommend you simply do a web search for steps on allowing a website.

Search using the following text, replacing "ABC" with the name of your ad blocker:

allow a website through ABC

Once you've found the steps, copy the link below:

app.socio.events

After you've copied the link, follow the instructions from your ad block software to add the link to the allowlist. When you're done, you can go back and start enjoying the event!

What if my ad blocker doesn't have an allowlist?

Some ad blockers don't have an allowlist function, so you may need to disable your ad blocker entirely while joining an event on your computer. If you're uneasy with disabling your ad blocker, and you need to earn Continuing Education credits in the event, reach out to your event organizer to discuss options.

How can I tell if I'm using a private browser session?

Unless you intentionally launched a private browser session, you're likely already using a normal browser session. Most browsers will show a disguise or mask icon or "Private" label in the upper portion of the window. If you're using a private browser session, simply launch your browser normally.
