What is a D-U-N-S number and why does my company need one? 

Apple requires that your company be a legal entity in order to enroll in the Apple Developer Program as an organization. The D-U-N-S number from Dun & Bradstreet is used as a third-party verification source to assure that your company is a legal entity. A D-U-N-S number is simply a unique identifier for your business within the global Duns & Bradstreet network.

Does my company have a D-U-N-S number? 

It is fairly common that a lot companies already have a D-U-N-S Number. The best way to find out if your company already has one is to reach out to D&B, or look it up using their tools.  If your company is based in the United States, use the D-U-N-S Number Lookup to find out whether or not your company has an existing D-U-N-S Number. 

If your company is outside of the United States, visit the D-U-N-S International website to choose your country or region and search for your company from the D&B website for your specific region or country.

Can my company get a D-U-N-S number? 

While most companies can get a D-U-N-S number, the requirements to enroll in the Apple Developer Program are a bit more specific. You and your company need to meet three other criteria as well, which are pictured in the screenshot below.

How does my company get a D-U-N-S number? 

If you have searched and determined that your company does not have a D-U-N-S number, you can register for one here. D-U-N-S will ask for the following information during registration:

  1. Legal entity name

  2. Headquarters address

  3. Mailing address

  4. Your work contact information

My Company Address or other Information is Incorrect

This is a common problem, and the solution requires that you contact D&B or use their iUpdate tool. The most common information that needs to be updated is company name, address, or phone number. 

My Company Cannot Obtain A D-U-N-S Number

If D-U-N-S has denied your enrollment and said that you are not eligible for a D-U-N-S number, please ask why and reach out to your customer success representative to figure out the best next steps.
